Nested vApp’s in vSphere

I have been playing around with vApp’s in vSphere. To explain a vApp, it is a combination of a resource pool and VM team’s in Workstation. Thus you can group VM’s together that together forms a application, like an AD and Exchange server,  then set a start up sequence for the VM’s to startup or shutdown. 

Then I thougth about nesting vApp’s to see it that is possible, and yes it is!!

Thus you can nest vApp’s to startup and shut down in a sequence also. Once a vApp have started all its VM’s the next vApp will start up. You can setup the sequence of the vApp startup and shutdown.

    Hey can you post the actions taken to set up vApp and to nest it. Like you my idea is to set up various vApp’s to fully automate the startup and shutdown of all VM’s.

    Hi Shane
    The way I did it was to create a vApp and inside that vApp I created more vApp’s. Then on the Parent vApp’s properties you can then setup all the child vApp’s to startup and shutdown in a certain order. also for the child vApp’s you can for each of them alsso define in which order the VM’s should start.
